If you've ever dived into the insides of your computer, then you know that having the right computer hand tools to do the job is a downright necessity. Just like with any job that you tackle, having the right tools can save you a lot of frustration.

This is probably magnified when you're working in the close confines of either your desktop or your laptop. Computer hand tools are engineered for only one purpose and that's the repair and maybe the modification of your current computer system. OK, wait a minute, they also will work wonders if you want to crack open that game system that you have sitting on the shelf also.

Now if you're reading this and thinking "Why would I want computer tools, I'll just take it to those guys down the street?" Let's take a look at that scenario for a minute. Here is the reality of that. For even the simplest of operations, lets say you want to add a new drive, gone are the days where you can get these services done on the chea p. Most repair facilities now base things on an hourly rate. And when you stop to think about it, the great majority of tasks that you might want to do with your computer are easily accomplished at your kitchen table if you have the right computer tool kit.

The reason most people don't want to tackle these jobs is usually two-fold, one is lack of knowledge and two is not the right tools. And just so you know, that Phillips screwdriver in your tool box and a that pair of pliers just won't cut it. As far as having the knowledge, that also shouldn't be an issue. With the vast amount of forums that exist online now that are dedicated to computer repair or computer modification you'll usually find answers to even the most difficult questions.

So if you get ready to tackle a job that you absolutely, positively have to go inside your computer, let's take a look at what type of tools that you might need. Now to make this easier, when you start shopping for computer tools , the best idea is to look for tool sets that have everything all together in usually a convenient carrying case.

Be sure to look for tool sets that state the each tool is fully de-magnetized. This should go without saying from most major manufacturers. Always make sure that your tool set comes with an anti static strap so you can ground yourself to the machine. Yes, you do carry voltage and it can be harmful if you transfer it to your computer. Make sure your tool set has a nice variety of computer hand tools. The set should include things like precision screw drivers, needle nose pliers, torx bits, allen wrenches, small sockets and the ever important tweezers for when you utter "oops"!
