Question by : I need to find a good video-editing computer and a good video camera? Me and some friends are always making movies, but we have done this with a low-budget video camera and the editing has all been done with a $ 300 computer. I want to find one of the best computers on the market for video-editing and also a great camera for filming-preferably HD and close to film quality.-Great framerate too. I can go up to about $ 1000 on the camera and up to around $ 1200 on the computer. HELP ME! Best answer for I need to find a good video-editing computer and a good video camera?:

Here is the Minimum Specifications for a NLE that work HD files, Pinnacle Studio, these are Minimum, you will need better than what this requires to properly run this program. Amy HD video editing will take the same or better specs. Buy any one of those camcorders and I hope you have the computer to both view and edit the HD footage they take. You see , to properly edit and view HD footage, you need a large, upgraded computer, check the specs out for what one needs to have to edit HD footage with a program that can work with HD footage. With the natural trend for prices on particular hardware to fall, my system specs are probably really close to $ 1200. Systems built as commercial editing stations are generally WAY over your budget. Game systems are good in some applications, but tend to put a lot of price inflation on flashy lights and pretty cases...avoid that. As far as the Mac, I gave them a fair shake. To match my specs would have been 3 times as much in a MAC. So...my system: Intel i7 on an intel Mobo with 16 gigs RAM. 1 gig video card. 2 x 1 TB RAID0 drives and a small 150gig drive for the Windows 7 ultimate 64 OS and software (((I'd like to upgrade to a HDD of similar size eventually). Blu-ray burner and a second DVD burner. The case is the cheapest I could find with up-front usb/firewire/ and audio. If you don't go with HDV format (the better format) you will not need the firewire port for a HD camera and can go with an even cheaper case. A card reader up front will be nice if you do get a HD camera. Fast? I can render and burn a full 25 gig Blu-ray in 45 min, a DVD in about 8min and even rendering dense particle systems in after-effects is done in moments.

Well, if it's strictly video, then get the Canon XA10 camcorder. Very good camcorder. Now listen. This camera is over your budget, but you might not need to buy a new computer. You can get software for your computer. You can get Sony Vegas Pro editor software. A great program! You can put this on your computer. Then you use the extra computer money to help buy the camcorder. Canon XA10 Camcorder - $ 1,679. Sony Vegas Pro 11 - $ 600. Total: $ 2,279 Just $ 79 over your budget. The camera is a really good camera, and that software can do extraordinary things. Combine these two together and you have professional-looking results. Make sure that the computer is able to run that software though. You can probably get a more earlier version of the software for a cheaper price and that way you can have money for equipment like microphones and tripods and stuff like that. BUT. You want your computer to be able to run smoothly with this stuff, and that program can get pretty laggy on a regular computer. So, if your computer is bad, then you might want to forget about the software, camera, and buy a Mac computer and settle for a less expensive camcorder and then buy software compatible with the Mac. It can get pretty pricey for what you're asking for. If your budget went up just a bit, then you could get the Canon XA10, a Mac computer, and software and equipment, then you would be set! Lol. I like my pc system for video editing. It's work great with standard and HD video. I have AMD 8 cores processor with asus 990 series board and I filled with 32 gigs of rams and 2 professional videocards of amd firepro v5900 in sli. I have 4 solid states of 240gigs drives raid 0. along with 3TB of sata 3 spin drives for storages. I ran with liquid cooling, it's been really good for me. I never have any trouble at all, especially in 3D rendering. Green Screen editing no problem at all. I can do all CAD and pretty much any softwares out there like adobe,avid, and lots other that people can't use, but I been using OK all along. Any one wants a good computer for video editing, go for this..it's awesome..Now I just install 64 bit of window7, still working like a monster..It's crazy how fast this computer runs..I can burn or render 2 hours of any video formats so quickly within 20 min of time. Fortunately I have wired my home and didn't need a wireless card. I also had a very nice monitor, keyboard and mouse. So keep those items in mind when budgeting your build.
