We can all agree that having an Internet connection is important these days. But there is some debate about what the best ways are to get online. There are multiple devices with this capability. Some users choose to online on their mobile phones. Others prefer using more of a traditional computer like a desktop or laptop. There is now more interest in tablets, though, and some people are wondering whether tablets are better than using a netbook or a laptop for a wireless Internet connection.

Honestly the choice is going to be based on what you are doing online and on the device that you choose. For people that don't actually spend a whole lot of time online, because they don't have a personal computer or other device that they own, they may not realize what they could possibly use the net for.

Lots of people go online at work but don't really have the need to use the Internet when they are at home or away from the office. These people may not know how usefu l having a computer or other device at home could be for them. The Internet offers an infinite amount of possibilities, including banking, shopping, and having the ability to do some work out of the home to make your life at the office a bit easier.

If you need to use an actual computer, a laptop is generally the best route to go. If you have children, they could use it to do homework. Many kids these days have to create presentations with photos and music to present in class. If you consider yourself an amateur photographer, a laptop will allow you to use software such as Adobe Photoshop to edit your photos. If you use programs or files that are large in size, using a laptop is probably your best option in terms of portability.

When it comes to these cool new tablets, though, they are very tempting to purchase. Advertisers stress how fun they can be, which is why they are popular among younger users. The cost of a tablet is close to the price of a lower-end lapt op computer, so they can be a reasonably priced solution for basic Internet browsing. In fact, some companies will offer you a free tablet when you purchase a new cell phone. This is a great way to save money on them.

In order to determine what is best for you, talk to a sales representative at an electronics or mobile store so you can weigh your options. Those who work at these stores are very knowledgeable about the overall functionality of tablets and laptops. Once you know more about each one, it will be easier to make a decision. It is important to be a wise consumer so that you get the right item and will be satisfied with it in the future.

Question by : How fast is the iPad compared to laptop computers? Is it as fast as a regular laptop with dual core and 6GB of RAM running on Windows 7? Best answer for How fast is the iPad compared to laptop computers?:

Answer by Tom Brown
Simply put, no. But it doesn't do the same thing, so don't treat it like a laptop, its more a glorified web browser to me.

Answer by Computer Technician
I have never saw an ipad so I can't say about speed. But they don't even compare to a laptop.

Answer by Mathy Bunny
You cannot exactly compare the two. The iPad is VERY fast overall, but all the Apps were designed for that specific iPad with that specific Hardware. In Laptop's, there are different laptops with different hardware, so then some software runs faster on some laptops rather then others. If you are going on the Internet and running iPad apps, then it will be lightning fast. The laptop will also be fast. It then depends on what you want to use it with. Hope this helps :)

No, the iPad 2 is definitely not as powerful as a regular laptop. Not even close. The iPad 2 has a dual-core Apple A5 processor clocked around 1 GHz. It is paired with 512 of DDR2 RAM. It performed similarly with the Asus 1001PXD in Geekbench (a benchmarking tool), which had a 1.67 GHz Atom processor and 1GB of RAM. So raw-performance wise, you would expect it to be similar to that of a typical netbook. However, an iPad does not run a full-fledged desktop OS (such as Windows 7). Instead, it runs its own proprietary OS known as the Apple iOS. iOS is a powerful and yet very lightweight system, therefore the iPad 2 runs everything extremely smoothly (even a lot smoother than a netbook running W7).
