Navigating The Start Menu - OK down to computer basics, on the bottommost left corner of the screen you will see the start menu. Clicking the menu button will pop up the start menu. The start menu holds your favorite programs. Using the start menu you can conduct a search and search for programs. Try searching for "word," this will come in handy later.

Typing on the computer - Typing allows you to move on and learn more about the computer To make use of the search feature, search for Word the program and click a word program. Once you're in a word program, you can type whatever you want.

The computer Desktop - The main computer screen, known as the desktop is the image you see when you load up the computer. The background you want, the icons you see, and the overall display make up the computer desktop. The icons on the desktop are shortcuts that allow you to view or pick start up programs. While were learning computer basics, you can make up a shortcut to anything that will then be on the desktop. Create a shortcut by right clicking on a program, and then pick out create shortcut. Left click and pull the shortcut to the desktop.

My Computer - The my computer option is important for learning about the computer basics. Double click on the my computer icon on the computer desktop. This will allow you to see everything that is associated to your computer. You can check out the hard drives and the files that are located in them.
