If you allow them to control your computer remotely in this way, then they sure can. You have to be very careful about who you allow to service your computer since, if you aren't an expert in the operating system and the programs that run on it, it is very easy to conceal a backdoor, trojan or keylogger which would allow another person or another computer to take over yours, or to read unauthorized files or info.

Legally no. Technically yes, if they have remote software that they use then they could potentially get into your system, unless it was a connection that you had to allow on your end. Though if you have a good firewall, like ZoneAlarm, it will block the connection until you either allow or deny the activity, which if you knew and wanted the computer company in, then you would click yes ( though I would advise not checking the always answer box since that way it will block it again the next time incase you get a disgruntled employee on your butt )

If they were people from the company you neednt worry, they can be trusted .. Check your firewall settings ..

Answer by phoenix
the old adage "locks were made for honest people" would explain the whole thing. when dishonest people want to get past safe-guards they will find a way. a person "doing you a favor" or hired to get your pc running may enter your programs any time. also, there are people called "hackers" who's knowledge knows no boundaries. they are the modern day criminal. yeah, ironically, it takes a good theif to catch a good thief..

Answer by Kekionga
Your system can be set up for them to enter, but it can also be set up to block outside access. When they sold it to you, or fixed it for you they probalby set it up for outside support so they could help remotely as they did. For average internet use, you should have a firewall to prevent most access. If it bothers you get them or someone with computer knowledge to remove the remote access capability. g-day!
