If your looking for something cheap and fast Id go with the Toshiba satellite they can range from 700-1200$ and most of them have 2 1.8 64bit GhZ processors 2GB of Ram that's upgradable to more a semi-OK graphics card depending on how much u wanna spend but They do run most games out right now With the exception of unreal tournament 3 i guess but for what they cost and what u get id say go with that.
