Custom Website Builder In Florida [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

Question by : 15 year old trying to advertise as a custom computer builder? Hey. I'm fifteen, and I have a good bit of custom computer building experience. I'm trying to advertise in Simi Valley, but no one has replied to either my craigslist or recycler ads. How can I make people comfortable with my age? I can beat any price, but no one has emailed me. Help please! Best answer for 15 year old trying to advertise as a custom computer builder?:

Do not mention your age in your ads. There's no law stating you have to disclose your age.

At 15, you should at least work for free maybe 10-20 times, and ask the person if you can be used as a reference. But, then again "custom computer building" isn't something most people really look for. You should try to find a job as an intern at a local business, or maybe you could work for your teachers in return for a good reference. After that, you will have a very nice resume. Another thing you can get into is raw programming or web development. Feel free to email me if you need help getting started.

Start with people you know, establish a reputation, gain customers through recommendations of satisfied customers.

I have though about doing this too i really enjoy working with them but i decided my best bet is to wait until i have some sort of official degree or training to help backup what i am saying. you could potentially show some sort of examples of what you have done and can do or try to explain the level of experience you have best bet might be to not include your age so that people don't see it and wonder.

Since people can't hold you legally responsible for contracts you enter into, you'll need a LOAD of GREAT references before anyone will do business with you. If you screw up they have no legal recourse, and that's a big turn-off.

I would think that building up a reputation would help you with that - but first you need to get some grabbers! Is there any way that you can 'hide' your age or downplay it? Not telling anyone how old you are is your own right - you don't have to and they don't need to know as long as it doesn't interfere with the quality of work they expect to get. Do you have any older brothers, friends, or parents that could help you? You could set up the ad for your services (as you've done) and handle all the email correspondence. Then for your first few jobs when it comes to actually seeing anyone in person have an older person go. You could even be completely honest and tell the other party that your 'assistant' will be talking to them or meeting with them as you have an appointment or some other 'important prior engagement'. I know it sounds bad but its not really dishonest. If you claim to be as good as you are then the quality of work is really what they care about and whats important. When you finish your jobs I would send email surveys to the clients to collect feedback and recommendations. Once you've had a few jobs under your belt you can then reveal your age (if you want) and show the positive feedback and recommendations from prior jobs to prove your age doesn't matter.

Have a look at the book "Guerrilla Marketing." Your age is irrelevant, especially nowadays. Don't bring it up if you don't have to.

Why would a prospective client need to know your age? Don't broadcast your age. If you're communicating and setting up sales via email, your age shouldn't come up. Slowly you'll build your reputation through word of mouth, and you can't put a price on that. You might want to see about setting up a small informative website on godaddy, and make it look professional. A lot of people don't trust craigslist. Or, how about setting up a couple of your computers and selling them on ebay as a retailer - it's something to think about. Also, keep in mind, as long as you don't outright lie about something you're good. A lot of tech companies in the USA have their support staff in India, but go to great measures to make it appear that customers are being helped by an American staff.

Here is some custom work I did for a customer. Tough build on the cable management side of things because of how open the case window is. Most window cases at least cover the drive bays so you can hide some wires there, not the Sagitta 2, its all open as you can see. All and all I think I did a decent job considering the case. The motherboard tray has a very small recessed area for cables, so if its a thick cable, forget about it, you have to work to route it with cable ties and bases. The star of this build is the price, right now you can build a Windows Vista 64 based AMD Athlon X2 6000+ on an AMD 770 chipset with 4 gigs of DDR2 800 and a ATI Radeon 4850 for about 0 total, everything included, even labor. Its an amazing time to be in the budget PC market because there are some realy good deals to be had on parts right now. Today I saw a Phenom II 920 quad core for 5 shipped, that's an amazing deal. I am looking forwa rd to doing a build with that and a 790FX board for a nice entusiast budget build next, probably about 00 total. If you are interested in that type of system, or anything else for that matter, please contact me, Cliff.Forster@gmail.com Also, if any other system builders would like to trade notes, please contact me, I would value your constructive criticism. Thanks.

The price will vary based on the cost of the computer plus the cost of assembly. Hopefully other American PC companies will be inspired by Fujitsu's actions and will offer a class similar to this or at least allow the option to custom-build your own PC ...
