In my opinion, I would have to say the HP Pavilion dv6258 se. It's an entertainment laptop and I have NO probs playing The Sims 2 on it, with the expansion packs. But, any entertainment-type computer should work, as long as you have a great video/sound card (nvidia is top notch) and at least 2 gigs of memory. AMD Turion 64 x 2 is a must as well: makes your games run smoother. As far as price, I don't really know what are the cheapest entertainment computers. I paid 1300 for my laptop, which I think is money well spent for what I'm getting. You could try talking to a Dell rep; I know that they do entertainment computers. I want to say that when I was shopping around, Dell gave me an estimate of around 1000.

I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming because the powerful video and audio chips generate allot of heat. Heat is the enemy. The real estate in laptops is very limited and an efficient cooling device is a luxury. Also they try to keep the laptop noiseless so they compromise the life of the computer. In desktop you have options but gaming PC's are not chip.If you want to play any new game I suggest to get an SLI motherboard(dual video cards) and lots of RAM.
