The best deal I've found recently is the Seagate GoFlex Desk. I've now purchased three of them. They're $ 129 at Costco and hold 2tb. They come with a USB interface, but those can be swapped out for USB3, Firewire or eSata. For another twenty dollars you can get the 3TB version. If that's overkill for your needs and you don't want to use it to backup your computer (though that would be a really good idea) there are smaller units available for as low as $ 60 for 320GB. My only advice on brands would be to stay away from Western-Digital for now. We've had 100% failure rate on them in the past few years. W-D will replace them under warranty but the replacements fail as well.
