Laptops are fine (assuming they meet the same hardware specifications). It's not recommended to use the built-in microphone because the lack of clarity affects voice recognition.

What do you think a desktop has and a laptop doesn't have so the software would not run on a laptop? A laptop is no rocket science, it's just a computer in a different case and slightly modified parts to consume less power and produce less heat, that's all.

Nope it can be used on a laptop. I got it and loaded it on to mine, but just to warn you if your thinking about buying it dont. I used it for typeing and it could not understand what i was saying. It continued typing random stuff and i was speaking very clear and slowly. If you want to get it for other things than it works pretty well but not for word at all.
