no, but get your certificates from Microsoft for networks...very important to be an Op Sys expert, and be able to set up networks...you do not want to be chained to a work bench all your life.

You need to have some basic computer skills that are essential in the real world. I don't think you need to go to college. but update your computer skills b/c technology grows fast.

The simple answer depends on you - are you the guy that everybody asks when their computers are broke? Can you fix yours on your own, no matter what is wrong with it? Ever built your own? Ever had to troubleshoot intermittent problems with hardware? Ever had to answer the most inane questions concievable by man, usually over and o ver? If you can answer yes to those questions, you can probably get by without it, although the various certifications wouldn't be a bad idea.

I started my own computer repair business and the only college I took was half a term straight out of high school. So the answer is definitely 'no'. But if you know little about computers, you'll have to teach yourself or have someone else teach you the ropes. In that sense it's like any other job, you have to be better at it than your clients! Doesn't hurt if you actually enjoy fixing computers either...

no. you just have to learn a lot about computers, and be quick with firuring stuff out. People will not want to pay you for sitting around scratching your head, they expect you to find th eproblem and fix it fast, always have the answer or be able to get it quicly. You have to have good book keeping skills to manage your business, college would come in handy here. YOu have to have good people skills, you want people to call you back, not think you are a geek or know it all who doesn't want to explain what you are doing. YOu need to have goo contacts for parts and information. I have had my business 15 years now, I learned everything onmy own, trial and error and online, and I have about 300 regular clients, and do a lot of one time jobs every week. but I love wht I do and I have the drive to do it, that is important also in any business to be successful

Education always helps. If you want to start a business and want to struggle with it then do it without an education. The teachings will help with dealing with customers, employees, accounting, taxes, organization and a lot of other things a growing business needs to consider.
