Question by go_por_dos: What do you guys know about lenovo computers? Im trying to get a new computer and these lenovo computers look to be the best deal but I have no idea how good or how reliable they are. does anybody know of them or have any information on them? Best answer for What do you guys know about lenovo computers?:

They are very well build and run great but there is a catch. THey come preloaded with too much bloatware. When you get it wipe the drive and just do a fresh windows install. Leave all the Thinkpoint garbage software off it. The thinkpoint bundles just slow the machine down.

Lenovo bought out IBM's Thinkpad line several years ago. They're big in corporate circles, but not so well known (or advertised) to consumers. I find them to be solid task oriented PCs and often good deals. I haven't used any of their newer gaming oriented models to give you a recommendation on those.

I have three Lenovo 3000 J115 (7387) model PCs that I purchased from SAMS Club a couple years ago. All three are still running well. Only issues that I've had include: - Power Supply died on one of the systems about 2.5 years into use. - The mouse on two of the systems were acting up (double clicks mainly). This showed up after about 2 years of use for the two systems. - DVD drives on two of the systems started to now open. The rubber bands to slide the tray out started to slip. This problem showed up within about 1 years use for the first system and about 1.5 years of use for the other. - Hard drive for one system failed after about 3 years of use. The systems do come with a bit of bloatware, but removal is fairly trivial (either fresh install if you have the media or individual uninstalls). The PCs weren't exactly top of the line, but they were in the price range and sold as complete setups (LCD monitor, mouse, keyboard), which I needed at the time. Additionally, I did apply some upgrades to convert them to decent gaming systems. Added MSI 8600GT video cards and replaced the 1 GB of RAM (how anyone could sell a Vista system with 1 GB of RAM and expect it to run was beyond me) with 4 GB. Only major complaint (and seems to be a trend with many system builders) is the lack of recovery media. As part of the system setup, it does walk you through creating the media (which I'd highly recommend doing), otherwise you might find yourself ordering a set in the future if the hard drive crashes. In general, they are decent systems for the price. Depending on your intended use, you might be better building your own system, but for a standard system, no major complaints.

As other people already mentioned they bought out part of IBM's personal computing side. Decently built machines that I'd recommend for a business user who takes their laptop around with them. Just wanted to add though for all that bloatware that comes on new computers, use this free program, decrapifier from http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ makes it quick and easy to remove a bunch of preloaded crap that slows down a perfectly good new computer!
