not brand new maybe the day after thanksgiving you can get with with decent specs. but if you buy a gently used one from ebay from a repected seller that would be your best bet.

Overstock.com periodically has good laptops for under $ 500, but they're usually a few years old. Not a terribly good value as for around $ 800, you can usually find a new one at Circuit City/Best Buy and similar stores.

Maybe 550 or so without tax at Walmart. Check it out. Brand new. Not used garbage. Nice machines. Don't buy used laptops if you can avoid it. I was amazed at good old Walmart. Get some leftover Easter candy half price while you're there. There is a link below for one at $ 498.
