yes sure 1) borrow a digital camera 2) take a photo of your favorite object 3) copy that photo into your computer 4) set this as background

get yourself out and take some pictures with your camera...it may be not quite good with at the first time..but you'll get better on that..and soon you'll feel no need to download no background no more...

Without downloading? Well, you can go to your Control Panel, double-click Display, then click on the Desktop tab. Scroll threw the different backgrounds and pick one or click browse, and choose a picture or whatever for your background. As to the legality of any of these options, websites that post backgrounds want you to use their images. Most have a mark on them identifying their origin, so there is no copyright violation. The right to use a background that was provide by a software manufacturer is paid for when you purchase the software. Even if the software is free.
