Yeah those Dell full towers are great for everyday use, but horrible for gaming. Those mini desktop computers that you see are really designed to watch videos and hook up to a flat screen TV discretely. They're a really bad deal though, and I'd easily recommend the Gateway slim tower series over them. The gateway is even smaller than a normal slim tower, and it offers quite a bit of computing power. If you want to be able to game lightly, look for something without integrated Intel graphics. Stay away from any graphics card with Intel or integrated in it's name, and you'll be fine. http://www.gateway.com/programs/sxseries/index.php?cmpid=topnav_computers

Any of those small factor mini desktops are not great for gaming as if you ever want to add custom parts, eg a new graphics card there are chances that it won't fit or there won't be any expansion slots available because they tried to save on space.

there is: mini-itx (really small, can be mounted under the dashboard of your car and often is) dtx, a really slim machine atx in several form factors: - full tower - mid tower - mini tower shuttle (size of lunchbox) and then there is the weird boxen, and workstations and servers (I like workstations! dual 6-core xeons and 192GB ram and 4 video cards - woohoo!) usually with limited size comes limited power, with the exception of the workstations, those come about the size of a mid-tower that happens to be 19" rackable.
