If this is your first time dealing with this I recommend finding a registry cleaner program. Working with the registry is can be very dangerous and you should always make a backup. Spray light windex on a paper towel. Wipe that, then wipe it dry.

There are LCD wipes, sprays, etc. I just wouldnt use anything rough. I usually use some NATURAL windex with a microfiber cloth. Rub gently.

you can always use an antistatic glass cleaner,they are commonly known as monitor screen cleaners and are available everywhere in the market.Do not use an ordinary glass cleaner with monitor since it can cause static energy and all the dust particles will be attracted to it always use a soft good quality cotton wipes,a wipe that came along with goggles/cooling glass will do better.Don;t use windex or any ammonium based or ethyl alcohol based products as it can turn your screen yellowish in color over the time.Spray the cleaner on to the cloth rather than on the screen and wipe it from top to the bottom.And hey I missed something important,the screen must be switched on wh ile cleaning(it will make any spots or sticky substances visible)

Safest is to buy a dedicated screen-cleaner. I have some spray-cans with screen-cleaner fluids that is intended to spray on the screen but i mostly spray some of it on a cloth that was originally ment to clean glasses with and put it on the screen like that. The advantage of a can with fluid compared to pre-made tissues with cleaning liquid is that it's cheaper and it doesn't dry out. Never use agressive substances that may damage the coating on the screen. Also using electrically conductive fluids is dangerous, therefor be very carefull if you use a cloth that has been made moist with water for instance (prevent dripping, monitor off, be very carefull that no water enters the monitor, and let it dry for a while). I guess dedicated screenliquids should be electrically unconductive but it's often hard to be sure so i would take these measures also when using those substances.
