One thing you can do with old computers is format the hard drive maybe install a new OS and then donate them to a charity.

You should look for a software utility that has the ability to erase data at a DOD (Department of Defense) level rating. That way, any data you have will be essentially unreadable. Or just remove the hard drive and hit it with a sledge hammer. As far as the rest of the computer, there should be recycling centers where you can and should take the machine for proper disposal. If you have a HP, Compaq, IBM or any major brand, they will sometimes accept a machine for disposal.

ppl can take the stuff out of it. in most newspapers, ppl buy old computers and you can get a good price for it too. they might give u up to $ 100 for it. so dont worry about ur stuff still in the computer, sometimes they take out everything inside. or who knows, maybe someone likes to smash things and smash it!? so yeah, hope i helped! :D
