Question by gazhumphrey: Would changing my computer to tv cable get rid of the blackedout areas on my tv screen? I have my computer connected to my hdtv using a vga cable. When I watch movies or shows streamed from the net they are played with large blacked out sections on the top and bottom of the screen.Ie the movie appears in a small letterbox on the screen. Would changing my computer cable to a dvi to hdmi cable have any effect on my viewing or it there any other way to maximise my viewing picture whislt watching streamed shows? Do you switch to the FULL SCREEN MODE while watching these shadow-boxed shows? IF SO, then you really can't make them fit your monitor. You see, PART of the problem is your monitor resolution. If you don't have a 1920 x 1080 screen and you have 1920 x 1080 shows, then they don't fit...you have to match the resolutions if at all possible. So if your streamilined shows have different resolution choices, it's best to match them to the NATIVE resolution of your monitor, not the resolution you are presently using.... My monitor can go from 640 x 480 all the way up to the NATIVE resolution of 1680 x 1050 That's the native resolution.....
