Alienware has some of the coolest "looking" stuff out there and they are nice computers. Too bad they're now owned by Microsoft. I only have one experience with Alienware however and it isn't good. If you are going to spend $ 3,700 on a computer, you'd get a much better deal shopping at internet wholesalers and custom building you own. It takes a little research to get all the components correct but for $ 3,700 you'll end up with a computer worth about $ 5,000+. You'll also have the satisfaction of having a computer you built yourself.

Alienware computers are fine if you're willing to pay money and don't really want to put the system together yourself. As far as war rantys and hardware failure are concerned, it is highly unlikely that a system you make yourself will have any problems. The most common failure is Hard Drive related, and most HD manufacturers usually have a 3 year or so warranty on them. I don't really see the problem with spending under an hour putting the system together when it will mean saving hundreds of dollars.

I don't thing is there any different about alien ware computer except they look fancy and made for gaming computer because I saw alien ware computers on a gamestop magazine and they related to video games. If you need a computers to play games, get alien ware.

Dell has a great reputation--and make no mistake--with Dell's acquisition of Alienware, they will march to the same drummer as the rest of the company. Having said that, you can expect tech support from India, failure to deliver if there is any real problem, but a usable platform for most applications. For the money though, you can build your own system or get a smaller company to do it for you for about half the price. Most of what you are buying with Alienware is the name. The cost of the components does not vary too muich from manufacturer to manufacturer, yet their prices are significantly higher....thanks to the name.
