Don't panic. The worst thing at this point you can do is panic and accidentally do more damage. Download KNOPPIX which is a live CD Linux distribution so it is completely free. Write it to a CD and boot form the CD. KNOPPIX will boot form the CD and not affect your hard drive. KNOPPIX is a special Linux distribution since it can recognize windows files and hard drive partitions. These will automatically load to your KNOPPIX desktop when it boots. From there open your hard drive icon and save what you need to a CD. IMPORTANT don't remove the CD from the CD drive. If you only have one CD drive save your files onto a floppy or thumb drive or put the KNOPPIX operating system on a thumb drive and boot from that.

problem 1 is caused by having a shortcut to c:\windows\system32 in your startup group. To resolve, do a search for folders named startup and open them and remove the shortcut.

At the core of every Windows Operating System (OS) since Windows 95 is The Registry. The Windows Registry is a catalog of settings for all the hardware, software and unique user settings on your PC. Every time you add or remove hardware, install or uninstall a program, even when you change the resolution of your display, you're making changes to the Registry. It works in the background and is not intended to be accessed by the average Windows user. Few things strike unease into a good number of PC technicians like the mere mention of the Registry. Since making an improper entry in the Registry can cause major issues, like your PC no longer starting up.

So what can the average PC user do to keep their computer running smoothly? Well you can get your very own "Computer Geek" to be on call 24/7 to speed up your PC every time it seems a little slow. You can also get yourself a specialized application called a "Registry Cleaner". Gett ing the best Registry Cleaner is vital to your computer's performance. Just like the purchase of any other piece of software, one must consider the features and benefits that the product has to offer. By default, all registry cleaners scan the registry for errors, but what sets the best apart, are the extra features. I have reviewed many Registry Cleaners for my clients and only a few have the bonus features that make them superior and worth purchasing.

Some the the features you will need to consider are.

* How many different types of errors are scanned (i.e. ActiveX Errors, Javascript Errors, Internet Explorer Errors, Dr Watson Errors, Windows Media Player Errors, the more the better.)

* Back-up registry, since it is some what easy to corrupt the registry, you need a backup

* Automatic/manual removal.

* Optimize Internet Explorer.

* Evidence Cleaner.

Most Registry Cleaners have an option to do a "free scan". I recommend that you try before you buy, this way you can see for yourself, what's going on with your computer before you need to hire your very own computer "Computer Geek".
