Question by klby: which is better Geforce 256MB graphics card, or intel graphics media accelerator 4500 HD ? I would like to get a new laptop computer. I see several offered with an "integrated "graphics which means they do not want me to be able to make any comparison before I make my purchase ! My desktop has had a 256 MB card upgrade which gives the results I want to get in a laptop but these ratings are meaningless to me. depends on the version of Geforce. i have found intel graphics cards to be very powerful, but highly unsupported by games.

i would say the Geforce because its not intgraded and the intel may not support 3D or openGL like the Geforce would.

the geforce the geforce has its own amount of ram seperate from the rest of the system ram the intel card is a vampire card and zaps ram from your main system ram its quite powerfull with 2d and wil run windows graphics just fine but the gma has limited 3d support virtually no t&l support and if you plan to game with it you might as wel forget it usually a rule of thumb is a 'seperate' ati or nvidia card is always better
