Sometimes your business might be stretched for staff and you might need to hire a few temporary workers. Since it is not always feasible to purchase new computers every time this happens, renting them is a better option. There are many rental companies that let you rent a computer, laptop or any other equipment that you would need.

Renting vs. purchasing

One of the most common situations where you can rent a computer is when you are travelling to another city for a seminar or a conference. Instead of tugging along the computer and its corresponding equipment, it would be simpler to rent a computer from city you are flying to. This cost effective solution lets you travel light.

When old computers and monitors are disposed off, there is a need for recycling. When large c ompanies or people rent out computers, they cut down on disposal of old machines which contribute to the environment in a big way. Most multi national companies do not dispose the old parts in the right way. When the computer is beyond use, they are usually sent or thrown away in landfills. This can result in water contamination and soil erosion. When a computer is rented, the demand for new machines goes down drastically.

Many households also feel the need for personal computers. Whether you take your work back home or your child uses technology to for his homework, a computer is essential. Purchasing personal PCs for every member of your family might be heavy on your pocket. Renting out computers might be easier and more convenient. When you feel the computer doesn't suit your needs anymore, your can return it or exchange it for a different one. Through renting, necessary changes can be made if you kid goes away to college.

Rental agencies and their ser vices

Before renting a computer, do enough research and make sure you find a good company that offers you a packaged deal at a good price. In many cases you might require other equipment like scanners, printers or sound systems to enhance the functions of your computer. Rental agencies rent out such equipment as well but at an added cost. Whether it is a short term project or a long term one, rental companies provide computers for all durations once you sign a contract with the company. Once you sign the contract, you will solely be responsible for the rented pieces in case it gets lost or stolen. Depending on the make and the model of the computer, rental prices are fixed.

When you rent a computer from a rental company, find out if they offer free technical support and customer service. If you ever face a problem while using the rented computer, you should be able to get immediate help from the company.

Question by Tiffany: Can you rent computer upgrades? So like if you wanted to upgrade your computer to Vista or whatever is there somewhere, anywhere, you can just rent the thing? I don't understand why pay $ 200 to upgrade a computer for just one time. It seems like you could just get one from a local library or something but I've called around and they don't do that. Does anyone know if renting such a thing as this is possible? You can rent movies, books and games so why not this too? Best answer for Can you rent computer upgrades?:

Answer by Purbleman
No, because you will have a copy of it when you are done without paying the full price, meaning that you just ripped off Microsoft (or whoever)

Answer by Charlie Tuna
Because renting means that at some point you will have to return whatever you rented. How are you returning an OS upgrade? Uninstalling an OS is not as simple as uninstalling Firefox or Itunes. There is no such thing as updating just one time. When you install a program, are you just using it one time and stop using it? No, you are paying for the benefit and new features of using the program or and updated release of the OS.

Answer by Fraggle
You only upgrade once, but you continue using the new OS. You may return the physical disc, but you still have the content.
