I doubt anyone will have the answer to this. I don't. I will say, though, that first of all, "the web" and "the internet" are not the same thing. The internet has been around since the early 80's, I believe, while the world wide web is much newer. In the early days of the internet, it was just usenet newsgroups and ftp directories containing files. I'm guessing that the first company that offered internet access to home computers was probably a BBS which allowed its members to access certain internet functions. I wouldn't know which bbs that would have been, though. Would have been in the early 90's.
