Google Chrome was built for speed. It has similar user layout as Safari 4 and Opera 10.

Google Chrome introduced to public on 2 September 2008 as beta version for Windows computers, mainly for Windows XP service pack 2 users. I was a Firefox user at the first time I stumbled upon this new web browser back on December 2008 after Google officially released stable version of Google Chrome web browser.

Sergey Brin and Larry Page who founded Google came up and idea to start Google's own browser. During past several years, Google's CEO Eric Schmidt stated that Google will not produce their own web browser due to tight competition between Microsoft, Apple, Opera and Mozilla to gain market title as the best web browsers on the internet.

The competition starts 'browser war'. He feels Google will never survive against those browser companies. With the release of Google Chrome, Google gains some percent of market share for internet browser, gaining up the title as the third popular web browser.

Back on 25 May 2009, Chrome was being enhanced with additional features such as full screen mode, web form auto fill, full page zoom and drag-drop to enable user to change a tab's position either to the left or to the right. The full screen mode enable user to watch YouTube video in full screen or to read news in larger view. You can do a search from its address bar without a need to open up Google Search page. Very convenient for me, you will feel the same too.

On 25 January 2010, Chrome was being added with several features. The version during the introduction of these features was Chrome 4.0. The new features includes a bookmark synchronization, additional developer tools built for blogger and webmasters, faster performance than the previous version, more personal security for the user while browsing the web.

Finally, on 8 August 2010, Google released Google Chrome 6.0.472, the most stable version. I use this version eve ryday in my computer right now. The new version was twice faster than previous version, while in the same time maintaining the same user interface available in the previous version. If you want the best of Google Chrome, I personally suggest you to install Google Chrome 6. It was light, fast and secure from any web virus threats.

You can customize Chrome from its options Window which contains three tabs. The tabs are Basic, Personal Stuff and Under The Hood. Apart from Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome 6 does not come with a status bar. When a web page loads up, the status will be displayed in the bottom left of the screen. You can view the status bar when you hover the mouse pointer on it. This was another feature that differentiates Google Chrome from another free browser.
