If it is basic internet usage, email, and some word processing, then you could go with a computer that has say a 250GB hard drive, 2.2gHz processor, 2GB of RAM and you'll be fine. If you need something that can manage multiple programs with ease and without slowing down, then you'll want to look into a faster processor and more RAM. Knowing what you would need is the first step towards finding those best computer deals.

Now that you know what you're looking for, you want to start looking around. Your best source? The internet. You can surf computer company websites, you can use search engines, you can go to forums and see who has what and where they got it from. You can also shop around in your home town and see who has the best prices. But beware! You don't want to sacrifice things like a decent warranty period, tech support, etc just to get a good price. Some laptops, netbooks, and PCs may come with shorter warranty periods or require you to pay for tech suppor t.

As far as tech support goes, you should be able to get at least one year of free tech support from the date you purchased the computer. Contrary to popular belief, simply because you are having a technical issue with your computer does not mean that you simply don't know how to use the computer, and when that computer turns itself off and won't turn back on, the last thing you want is to find out that tech support is going to cost you £1.50 per minute! So make sure that the company that manufactured the system will give you free tech support. It is also nice to see if the place you purchase it from offers any support, as some computer shops and websites will also offer support for your new computer as well.

Last but not least, never shortchange yourself on the warranty! Make sure that you get at least a one year warranty with your computer. If you are offered an extended warranty by the place you purchase the computer for an extra fee, purchasing that is up to you, but do not purchase a computer that states that it comes with a 6 month warranty or worse, no warranty at all! If the manufacturer does not provide a warranty, find a different computer. You shouldn't have to pay extra for a warranty from a third party! It isn't a deal if you're going to pay a third party for a warranty that should come from the manufacturer.

Finding the best computer deals can be hard work but it will be worth it in the end. Just make sure that you cover your basics - minimum requirements, warranty, and support - and you'll be fine.

Question by : Do you know about a good desktop computer deal? My fossil pc is about to implode and I need to start looking for a new decent pc. I don't know what is considered a good deal these days. My budget is about $ 500. I wish I could build one but I don't have the knowledge or the time to do that right now. Do you know of a good desktop pc deal that I can take advantage of now? Answer by John S
if u need one quick u can go to local computer store, and pick one up for $ 450 for best deals u can customize one dell.com or hp.com and have it shipped within 7days

Answer by marcus
yep dell or hp or best buy . Or if you are feeling adventurous go to Tiger Direct and buy a basket case . Kit . great deal on these and all you have to do is make sure you buy the right components for the board you bought . i.e. dont buy a board that uses SATA and then bu PATA drives . and make sure you buy the proper memory etc. They will help you with that .All you need do is ask them . Put it together yourself and get a kick ass system for less. stay away from Walmart . They sell electronics that are cheap becuae they are almost always models that are being discontinued due to bad sales . also target kmart and even best buy . Got to watch them . do a search for reviews from other sources ( not their store ) and from their store for any model you plan on purchasing from them . consumers are the best people to ask ,. they already bought the crap .

You could even add a video card to it like a HD 4670 or better to make a halfway decent gamer out of it.
