BEIJING รข€" Mobile phones have overtaken computers as the most popular device for getting online in China, the government said Thursday, as it announced the number of web users had hit 538 million. China has the world's biggest online population, with ... Mobile phones trump computers among online Chinese

These day's parents have to worry about their children's on-line activity constantly. Never knowing when or where they will meet an on-line predator. Today on the news you hear about teenagers who have run away to meet people they met on-line and some are even being abducted. In some cases there is a happy ending but in other cases the outcome is not so happy. With that being one fear, another fear is parents worrying about their kid's being sexually solicited by on-line predators, even in "kid safe chat rooms".

Luckily there is new technology that allows parents to track on-line activity and ways to block the websites of choice. With just one click you can see all of the sites that your child has visited and what they did. Right now in the US there are many children and teenagers home alone who use their web camera's to pose naked or for people to view them naked. it is a known fact that many children are more computer literate than their parents but there are s everal ways to protect your child and keep them safe.

There are books that you can read about keeping kids safe on-line. You can also talk to your child, showing interest is often a way of letting a child know that you are there and they can talk to you. Right now if you were to go into a "kid safe" chat room you would probably talk to at least two adults. Even worse they, in the past, could have talked with your child. It is a very scary that such a small device connects thousands of on-line predators to every computer on-line in the world.

This article is not telling you to keep your child of the Internet but more or less to help you get involved and help keep them safe while they are on-line. There are many website that help parent that are not computer literate learn a few tricks that will help you keep your kids out of on-line danger.

I am going to repeat the fact that keeping in touch with your child is a key part in keeping them safe. There are many things that younger children don't understand like not to give out privet information, like there name, age, date of birth, address, or phone number. By talking with your children you can help them learn Internet safety as you yourself learn it.

Question by Linda R: how do I connect my fax to my computer line so I can eliminate the fax line.? I currently have 2 phone lines. Before I got DSL, my computer and fax shared a line, and the second line was for my phones. Now that DSL is on the same line as my phones, is there a way to switch the fax on and off and use the same line, thereby allowing me to eliminate the cost of the second phone line? Best answer for how do I connect my fax to my computer line so I can eliminate the fax line.?:

Answer by Mike L
Sounds ike a question for your DSL provider. My initial answer would be no.

Answer by Jim R
It depends on your fax machine. I have a brother 2820 which shares my dsl line and whenever I get a fax I punch in a 3 digit code on my phone and the fax picks up. You can also just manually walk to the fax and press "receive" (or start, or whatever button your model has) to manually start the receive process. Don't forget to put a DSL filter on the fax.

if you are using a desktop computer, your fax modem has a alt line that you should connect your fax machine to that and it doesn't differ that you're using fax or telephone and doesn't need any switch it switches automaticaly.

You can eliminate the cost of your second phone line by sending faxes via your computer. Internet faxing allows you to send/receive faxes in your email inbox, so you can fax almost anywhere. Now you will only need to use your fax machine to print faxes that are actually important, saving you a lot of money on toner. For more information go to http://www.myfax.com
