Question by : what's a higher priority in high performance computers? Hard Drive? Processor? which processor is awesome? Best answer for what's a higher priority in high performance computers? Hard Drive? Processor?:

Answer by Meh, Internets
It depends on what the computer is going to be doing. For most people, gaming is the most intensive thing they'll be doing, which is most dependent on the graphics card. The processor is second in line. For most people, an i5 is more than enough power. Depending on the computer's function, it could be the processor, the hard drive, or even the network adapter.

Processor > HDD Get a core i7 990x

Answer by Peter
Processor is more important in terms of general speed. RAM can also be important. For speedy RAM, 2 GB minimum, preferably 4 GB for a nice smooth machine. Processor-wise, I recommend just getting one of Intel's new Core i5 or i7 "Sandy Bridge" processors. (Also known as second-gen core series.)

Answer by Mark O
Processor and RAM the hard drive is only nessessary when there is not enough RAM to hold the entire program and data

Answer by D McC
processor and ram are inportant for a good pc, also the graphics card if you are a gamer. i like the intel core i7

Modern touch devices allow one to interact with virtual objects. However, there is a substantial delay between when a finger moves and the display responds. Microsoft researchers, Albert Ng and Paul Dietz, have built a laboratory test system that allows us to experience the impact of different latencies on the user experience. The results help us to understand how far we still have to go in improving touch performance.

Rick McMullen, former director of research computing at the University of Kansas, has been appointed director of the Arkansas High Performance Computing Center. His appointment begins Aug. 13, according to a release from the University of Arkansas. McMullen named director of the High-Performance Computing Center

High performance computing is a branch in computer science that utilises supercomputersand its software to solve advanced calculations and algorithms problems. Supercomputersare machines specially designed with a capacity to manage high speed tasks and perform complex computations. There are important uses of this technology in major industries and frontiers of science. Whatever the usages are, it is definitely not built for normal tasks which common individuals like you or me need to accomplish on daily basis.

One of the major field which benefits from high performance computing is scientific researches. It greatly aid human in space exploration by producing pictures and images of certain planets and other intergalactic matters. This technology enables the satellites, shuttles and spacecrafts to capture information and imagery which our naked eye could not. Another area that uses this ultra speedy machine is meteorology. It is extremely important to have the lat est data to point out the possibility of where and when natural disasters are going to occur in all over the world. The predictions of natural disasters like earthquakes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, tsunamis and floods are essential for governments and authorities to create emergency relocations for lower losses of lives.

In addition to that, weather forecasting is highly helpful for travelling, businesses and environmental issues. The effects of global warming, for example, could be simulated by complex applications and processors. Scientists could do studies on vast subjects and events that are yet to exist or happen. For instance, simulations could be created to study how airplanes crash without really using a real airplane. Cars could be tested for accidents without really setting one to bang or hit any objects. In biology, these powerful systems assist in molecular modelling for analysing genes and its structures. Chemical components could also be analysed with these modelling which is made possible through high speed computers.

There are other important uses of high performance computing in human lives. Finance and economics are utilising these super fast machines and software. In the financial market, it involves many transactions that require accuracy in calculations and quick processing. The trading in economics is in need for the same applications. Yet another well known use is in the military. There is a need to simulate how nuclear weapons work with these speedy systems. It is totally unacceptable to be jeopardising the environment and human lives by testing with real weapons over and over again!

Indeed the supercomputers do offer much uses and benefits to human.
