Most game design employers want you to have either majored in computer science or software engineering, so you're making a good choice. In general, you can get into game design out of any CS program, even if they don't offer many game design classes. You'd gear your CS studies toward game design, and you'd do a game design internship. Game design is a competitive field to enter, and a lot of the work gets done overseas. So be aware of that. It's thus even smarter that you're majoring in CS, because if game design doesn't work out for you, you can work in another CS field, no problem. Some of the best CS programs in the US are at: MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Cornell, U Illinois Urbana, U Washington, Princeton, U Texas Austin, U Wisconsin Madison, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, UCSD, U Maryland College Park, Harvard, UCLA. I don't know which of those offer game design. In the UK, my list would include Imperial College London, Cambridge, Oxford, and U Manchester. I would also suggest U Toronto, in Canada.
