Laptops lack a lot of functions seen in a desktop, but most people admire the handiness and portability of these devices. For the busy world, there's no more time for staying still in one place, and travel is as important as sleep. But it may be difficult to access different hardware and media from your laptop because of its lack of connectivity options. Good thing there's a dock station.

You can simply define a dock station as a machine that lets you access different hardware machines and storage media that laptops can't accommodate. It has limited accessibility to hardware because of their few ports, inlets, and connectivity options for appendages like printers, scanners, and even CD's and memory cards. In order to address this problem, developers have created docks for laptops, which are some kind of extensions where you can connect a hardware to it easily. You no longer have to solve the problem by buying a desktop because the this has everything that you nee d.

There are also dock stations that are actually only laptop stands, or devices that lets a user place the laptop in an ergonomic and more comfortable position, usually at eye level, to prevent the user from experiencing back and neck pains.

Talking about computers and computer accessories makes you think about some of the most well-known computer companies. Although popularity isn't really the basis for quality, there are some world-famous brands that are reputable as they are popular. One of these is HP. Its experience in the technology industry has made the company a pioneer in computer products.

As one of the leaders in the industry, HP makes it a point to be up-to-date in all innovations. In fact, they have developed their own line of docking stations which are specifically created to be paired with their laptops, notebooks, and tablet PCs. There's the standard docking station which is the basic model that contains almost all the important ports and i nlets, except for a CD drive. The device is compatible with HP Compaq 4200, 4400, 6100, 6200, 6300, 6400, 6510, 6515, 6710, 6715, 6910 7400, 8200, 8400, 8510, 8710 and 9400 series Notebook PCs and HP Compaq 4200 and 4400 series Tablet PCs.

The HP advanced docking station has more ports, and also has the MultiBay II, HP's own trademark for its CD and DVD drives. The model is compatible with HP Compaq 4200, 4400, 6100, 6200, 6300, 6400, 6510, 6515, 6710, 6715, 6910 7400, 8200, 8400, 8510, 8710 and 9400 series Notebook PCs and HP Compaq 4200 and 4400 series Tablet PCs.

The company also has the 2400/2500 model specially designed for all HP 2400 and 2500 series laptops. The 3-in-1 NAS is another universal dock which is suitable for almost all laptop models from the company.

I think having an HP laptop requires an HP docking station, since the devices were made for that exact purpose. Using an one for an HP laptop lets you optimize your computing experience becau se the two devices are perfectly compatible for each other. If you ask me, any HP laptop should only be paired with an HP dock station. And that's something you should know as well.

Question by : Are there any good computer jobs out there anymore? I'm talking about a career in computers that pays well, but doesn't require a college degree. Many people insist that you have to have a college degree to get ahead nowadays, and that all the good computer jobs are pretty much gone. They claim that this especially true of computer repair jobs, as computers nowadays are practically throwaway technology (in other words, they're so cheap, that if they break, you just toss them out when they break , and buy new ones). Best answer for Are there any good computer jobs out there anymore?:

Answer by Kamal Verma
Surely there are. But ofcourse, the competition has increased too. But if you are good enough you can find a satisfying job for sure.

Answer by Gem
You need to write your elected officials in Washington about your circumstances. Because according to MicroSoft, Dell, Apple and all the big tech companies, there are not enough good computer people in America and they need the H1-B visa requirements lifted so that we can bring in more foreigners to take our jobs. There is NO shortage of computer techs, there is a GLUT. Yet the big money the lobby throws at congress, and the presidential campaigners, is leading them to allow even more in. We have let 20 million foreigners in since 2000. The number of tech jobs has dropped dramatically since then, yet hundreds of thousands of these jobs have gone to non-Americans, while OUR computer techs, both degreed and not, work for $ 8 at Best Buy. Wake up America, before it is too late.

Answer by OrangeKitten
There are more 'computer repair' people in work today than ever before. Where do you think they get the people to service all those warranty plans. They are all service companies and most of them do field work. Also, businesses use manufacturer's 'repair people' to fix/maintain their massive line printers, servers, and other systems all the time.

Answer by waswisgirl1
Yep, there's computer jobs and lots of them. When I became a computer programmer in the 1980's, you didn't need a degree, or just an associate degree to get a job. But it was the chicken and the egg problem, where they want you to have experience, but how do you get it without a job? More people expect you to have a bachelor's degree, but if you have the latest skills (through credit or non-credit education), you can still get an entry level job, if you're in a part of the country that isn't unindated with experie nced computer tech's. Computer speed test is usually the first step in trying to fix your computer from running slow. If your computer is running slow, you can run a computer speed test to determine the cause of the problem. Common causes of slow computers are shown below.

Computer Speed Test- Low Disk Space

When you install too much new software on your computer, you will start to begin to fill up valuable disk space. This disk space is used to operate your computer, so if it starts to fill up too quickly, then your computer starts to run very slow.

Computer Test- Low Computer Memory

If your computer is running slow, the test may tell you that you need to get additional computer memory. Computer memory like the grease that makes your computer operate. If your memory runs out then you're not going to be able to easily operate your computer.

Testing Speed of Computer- Uninstall Old Software

If you have lot s of old software on your computer, then you may need to simply remove software that you don't currently use. This will free up computer disk space and also give you access to more memory.

Most Common Computer Speed Test Issue

Before you tackle any of the above solutions, you should check to make sure your registry is clear. Put simply, the registry is where all the instructions are for your computer. If the instructions pile up, then the computer starts to choke on the instructions and can't get anything done.

Are you in need of a computer clean up? You have come to the right place. As your CPU gets older there is more wear and tear on the system. You may start getting computer errors like RUNDLL or a Windows blue screen. Perhaps your computer is acting very sluggish and you have been asking yourself "why is my computer so slow". Well I have the solution for you. Learning how to clean up your computer has never been this easy.

First off do not think you have to buy new equipment or pay for expensive upgrades. Often times people freak out when their computer is underperforming and think it is automatically time for a new one. Of course when you bring it to the computer technician he will probably tell you the same because he just wants you to spend money.

But the truth is most of the time all you need is a full system computer clean up. There are numerous techniques to do, but my recommendation is to use software that can completely automate the task for you.

< p>First off you want to eliminate unnecessary startup programs. Every time you install a new program it wants to automatically launch when you boot up your computer. Sometimes they will do so without asking permission and simply hide in the background. This will cause your computer to run sluggishly, as all of your valuable RAM is eaten up. Your computer may also have a very slow startup. A great piece of cleaning software will identify these programs and eliminate them.

Perhaps the most important step you can make to clean up computer problems is fixing the Windows registry. This is an overlooked area of your computer that needs constant maintenance to ensure your system runs efficiently. There can be literally hundreds of Windows computer errors mucking things up that you may not know about.

In order to fix the registry and perform a complete computer clean up, you will need specialized software. I personally use software that will scan and diagnose exactly wha t is wrong with your system. It will also offer various solutions to clean up your computer and have it operate at full capacity. Try it out for free below.

aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com LGR - The Sims 3 Generations Review

If you're like me, then you may have considered at one time or another, to build your own computer. This can be a complex project, but is also quite fun. But, there are more reasons why you would want to build your own PC.

1. Very Low Cost

You'll pay far below the average retail price when building your computer yourself. I'm speaking of savings of over $ 1000 or more! Most of the complete systems out there are overpriced. And, don't even envision having anybody else customize a PC for you. You need to be careful that you don't get ripped off doing that. If you build your own computer, you will enjoy saving huge amounts of money.

2. Building Computers is a Highly In Demand Skill

Since you'll find a computer in almost every household in The United States, having the ability to construct computer systems is a very much in demand skill. Not only can you build one for your self, but you can even build desktops for others and make extra money while doing it.

3. You Know Exactly What You've Got

Another reason to build your own computer, is knowing exactly what is in your computer. Many large companies will try to lower costs by putting low-cost, and sometimes inferior, parts in their systems. By building your computer yourself, you know literally what is in your system, and can select what you'd like to put inside.

4. Most Parts Come With a 1-Year Warranty

If you purchase a computer from a store, you are stuck with the warranty on the whole system. This means that, you can"t replace individual parts if needed. Plus, if you even so much as open the case, your warranty becomes null and avoid. When you build your own computer, each part comes with it's own warranty, and you can change parts in and out as you please.

5. Assembling Your Own PC Can Be Fun

It may not seem like it at first, but it can actually be fun to build your own computer. The joy and feeling of accomplishment that comes with taking on such a demanding task is a feeling that can't be replaced by anything else.

As you can see, there are many advantages to building your own computer. Not only can you save money, but you"ll learn a valuable skill and have fun in the process. These are just some of the many benefits you"ll gain when you decide to build your own computer.

Question by : Why is it so difficult to get rid of antivirus 20XX, even on a McAfee.com, somebody says go to? Bleeping computer.com. That site is excellent, but the McAfee PAID product should not be beat by a free product(combofix). Actully, I use MSE, because it is free. I have not used Mcafee for over 10 years and Norton, too. I have the Microsoft stand alone sweeper on a couple of flash drives waiting to be used, when needed. Best answer for Why is it so difficult to get rid of antivirus 20XX, even on a McAfee.com, somebody says go to?:

Answer by Doru Ubuntu
First of all, McAfee sucks. Norton and McAfee are the worst anti-viruses ever. You Windows users... Can never think outside your Microsoft box. You cannot safely, effectively and completely remove a virus infection in a Windows environment. FOR NOW: Here is the best way to remove a virus: What you should do if you know or suspect that your Windows computer was infected by a virus, worm, trojan or other malware: Go to a different, healthy, non-infected PC or laptop and download both the BitDefender and the Kaspersky Anti-virus Recovery CD's (free downloads). Download links for both: http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/ http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk Burn both downloaded iso files to CD with an iso burner software. If you do not have an iso burning software installed, I recommend getting the CDBurnerXP (free software) from here: http://cdburnerxp.se/ Once you burned the recovery CD's, return to the infected computer and put the BitDefender Anti-virus Recovery CD in your CD/DVD drive and boot from CD (set your boot up options in BIOS to CD boot as first option if it does not boot from CD at first) Once your infected computer boots into the Recovery CD Linux environment, first update the virus definition database from the Internet server, than perform a complete scan of your desktop computer or laptop (all hard drives and/or partitions). Remove (delete) any infections found, and shut down your desktop computer or laptop. Remove the BitDefender Anti-virus Recovery CD and insert the Kaspersky Anti-virus Recovery CD. Repeat the same procedure as for BitDefender above. After scanning with those 2 Anti-virus Recovery CD's, your system should be virus free, and will function properly again. FOR THE FUTURE: BEST SECURITY MEASURES FOR A WINDOWS operating system computer or laptop: Never use any Internet Security Suite, just install separate, different programs for protection, from the ones listed bellow: Do not use McAfee or Norton antivirus, they both suck. Also anything made by Microsoft sucks. The best pay antivirus programs are BitDefender or ESET Nod32. The best free antivirus programs are Avast and Avira AntiVir. Install 2 antivirus programs, one to run at all times as live, active protection scanner, and another just for on demand scans when you have doubts about any file. Also install MalwareBytes, at least the free version. You will also need a good firewall to protect your system from attacks. First test your firewall with this little leak test utility: http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm You will see that it will penetrate your Microsoft Windows firewall. It is common knowledge that the Microsoft Windows firewall sucks. Install Zone Alarm or Comodo Firewall (both are free). Zone Alarm is the best firewall ever. Rerun the firewall leak test and you will see that it cannot not penetrate Zone Alarm or Comodo, you will get a prompt asking if you allow communication or not, just choose NOT. Install CCleaner to clean your temporary files, cookies and temporary internet files. It will also allow you to remove programs from your startup list (speeds up your system) and any unused registry keys and other unwanted stuff. Just be carefull how you use it not to cripple your Windows operating system. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard For your web browser, use either Firefox Mozilla, Opera or Google Chrome. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ http://www.opera.com/browser/download/ http://www.google.com/chrome DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER (IE), as it is the worst browser, and it can be easily attacked and infected. As an added security measure, also install the WOT (Web of Trust) tool to all your browsers. It rates all websites, blocks access and also alerts you when you open an unsafe website, thus preventing most internet attacks or virus infections. http://www.mywot.com/ Good luck.

Answer by Richard James
Removing all trace of malware isn't always straightforward. Many paid for removal products will prevent the infection from running but what they often don't do is remove all trace, clean registry entries and fix system errors. If you know what you're doing you can remove any infection manually with UVK. The focus is on manual removal and you can also create your own custom scripts based on scan logs. You can also run automated scans from within UVK with a few well known removal programs including Combofix. http://carifred.com/ http://carifred.com/uvk/

Answer by Sly_Old_Mole
antivirus 20XX = malware, not a virus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus McAfee = antivirus (so it removes viruses) combofix should not be used unless an expert tells you to use it & your no expert, plus your need an expert to read the log.

I have no idea, but just got rid of the Windows Vista Security 2012 virus because I have a Windows Vista Business computer. Anyways, McAfee sucks and Norton expired on me last year. I still have a warranty on here until Dec. of this year. So, I upgrade and went with Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG2012,Super Anti-spyware Free Edition, and Spy-bot search...Everything seems to be going good and updated, but to be on the safe side, every week I run a scan on everything because I can't afford to get a major virus on here.

Are Using Computer Backpacks Really Necessary? [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

Doc from GlowGadgets.com shows his favorite backpack used for hand luggage. Just under 5 minutes to empty all the pockets.

aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com Docs Pack - Wenger Synergy Computer Backpack

If you are shopping for computer backpacks, you know how expensive they can be. The more specialized they are the more they tend to cost. You might think it is possible to simply use a normal backpack, but this is not the case. There are very specialized features in a computer backpack that are not in other backpacks.

The first thing that sets a computer backpack apart from a normal backpack is the central compartment. Normal backpacks range in size and you may find that they are unable to accommodate the rectangular shape and size of a laptop. If you have a laptop with a screen that is larger than 15 inches your choice in computer backpacks may be limited and it is unlikely that you will find a regular backpack that can accommodate it.

If you choose a regular backpack rather than a computer backpack, you may find that even though there are separate pockets, things will still come into contact with your laptop, even through a divider. Computer backpacks are designed so that the entire inside compartment is well shielded from contact with objects which may damage the laptop. A regular backpack is not constructed with the same internal padding so your laptop may be damaged over time. Spending an extra twenty dollars to buy a special computer backpack can save you hundreds if you can avoid damage to your laptop.

Padding is important for several reasons. It can protect the laptop from internal shocks and hits. A proper computer backpack also protects your computer against outside shocks and abuse.

If I ever need to install a program onto it from a cd, can I use my desktop to do it if I plug a USB cable between them? Is it possible?
