Question by : what are some good, fairly cheap gaming computers? I was looking to buy an alienware m14x, but thats very expensive and thats something that would take much to long to save up for and alot to afford. I am looking for a labtop from $ 500-$ 800 and something that has at least 6 GB ram, a really good processor, and can run at least the elder scrolls:oblivion or fallout new vegas. I am a huge computer nerd/gamer and im having some trouble finding my computer of choice. Thank you for your input! Best answer for what are some good, fairly cheap gaming computers?:

Check out asus and gateway. Gateway is my personal choice - it's cheap but powerful

Well, you won't find one under $ 800. Not with what you want anyways. I personally own an m14x (I'm using it as I type), and it's amazing. Sure, it cost me $ 1800 after tax, but it's worth it (granted, i did make some minor upgrades to it, and bought an $ 80 mouse, so really it's only around $ 1500-$ 1600). Laptops themselves, even not very good ones, are $ 400-$ 500, so a decent gaming laptop is hard to come by. If you have quadcore (which is pretty essential for high end games), you're automatically looking at $ 1000+. And 4GB RAM is standard, so 6GB will cost more.

I would recommend a desktop over a laptop for gaming (gaming laptops cost way more than desktops and you tend to get more bang for the buck when you build it yourself)

I agree, a desk top, i'd buy a standard hp pavilion and add a better graphics card to it Maybe XFX Radeon HD 6870 Graphics card or a eVGA GeForce GTX 550Ti Graphics card gaming computers really aren't cheap, but if you must try, that is the deal. a normal pavilion could handle playing runescape or other low graphic games (don't get me wrong i love RS) but if your into serious gaming, get a better graphics card. HP Pavilion - Elite h8-1010 - 8 GB RAM - 2.7 GHz - 1 TB HDD runes at 500-800 dollars just for the tower/hardware.

My friend, you are asking for a lot. You want the BMW performance for the price of a Ford. That is very hard to do. I have an ASUS republic of gamers laptop and it just burns through the latest games. But it was expensive (but much cheaper than an Alienware). I have found one for you that has an i5 processor, 6 gigs of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 460 graphics card with 1.5 gb of discreet RAM that'll allow you to play those games on the highest settings but it costs $ 950. And that's probably the least expensive laptop that will do that for you so you will have to pony up a bit of extra cash for brand new. Well, I finally got tired of it. I have been playing WarRock - a free, first person war game - with my brother. My gaming computer wasn't really slow, but it just wasn't fast enough. It always seemed like I was half a second behind, and the graphics weren't as good as I had seem on my brother's PC. So I went looking for the best cheap gaming computers, and this is what I found.

My budget was about $ 1,000. I knew that $ 1,000 wasn't going to buy the best gaming computer in the world, but it would get me off to a real good start. I wanted a computer that was not maxed out because I wanted to be able to enhance it if I needed. Since I didn't want to spend much more than $ 1,000, I started by looking at this IBuyPower Gamer Extreme 940i Desktop computer.

In my opinion, this is one of the best cheap gaming computers. It has a 2.8 GHz processor, and 4GB of dual channel memory. Its hard drive is huge at 750GB, and it also comes with a 24x DVD-RW drive. Its gra phics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTS250 1GB graphics card. It is not a top of the line card, but it is certainly more than acceptable. You will also get the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

Another great benefit of this PC is that it comes with plenty of space. It has 10 USB ports, and 4 unused 5.25" bays for adding just about anything you want. It is also a very easy PC to setup - it is basically ready right out of the box. This Gamer Extreme 940i is very easy to work on, so if you are a gaming junkie like me, you will like that a lot.

The second product I looked at in my search for the best cheap gaming computers was this iBuyPower Extreme 542D3 Desktop Gaming Computer. It has a 3.2 GHz Athlon AMD processor, so it has a lot more giddy-up-and-go than my 2.1 GHz CPU. It has 4 GB of dual channel memory, and a 500 GB hard drive. Now its graphics card is a 1GB ATI Radeon graphics card, and it comes with Microsoft Windows 7 Home edition.

Another one of t he best cheap gaming computers is the iBuyPower 901TO. The 2.3 GHz processor is slightly slower than the one above, but not enough that you are going to notice. Its hard drive is much smaller at 320 GB (as opposed to the 500 GB), but it does have the 4 GB hard drive.

The graphics card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500. The problem is that you are really going to need a dedicated graphics card for good gaming, so you will probably end up buying another graphics card. But the Intel Media Accelerator will get you started - just depends on how good you want your graphics to be.

You do get some pretty decent speakers with this gaming computer. I can't find the specs on the manufacturer's page, but they have to better than the other ones come with - which is none. This IBuyPower 901TO is about as low as you want to go on the price. You get much lower than this, and you just aren't really getting one of the best cheap gaming computers.
