aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com How to make your computer VERY fast!!!! new 2012

The current crop of top gaming computers have only a passing similarity to the plain Jane computers that sit in most homes. They are faster and have much better graphics. It's largely a case of which parts are being used.

At the heart of any computer is the CPU (Central Processing Unit). You'll also hear this referred to as a microprocessor. This is what does all of the calculation on data that's put into the computer. On a gaming computer, it needs to operate at an extremely fast rate. The unit of measure most commonly used is megahertz or MHZ. The two CPUs that seem to be getting a lot of attention from computer builders and gamers are the Intel Core 2 Quad and the AMD Phenom X4.

The video card is another very important component in a gaming computer. In all computers the video card translates the information provided by the CPU and displays it on the monitor. For gaming purposes you'll need a fast card which has a large memory. The norm has been 1GB, but the 2GB card is becoming increasingly popular. Two models that rate well are the BFG GeForce GTX 295 and the XFX GeForce GTX 285.

The video card, as well as all of the other components, needs to be adequately cooled. The most common cooling method are small fans built into the case. A newer innovation is liquid cooling. Another factor to be aware of is the power supply. The power supply should be able to handle the power and speed available from a high performance video card. The minimum that should be used is 500W.

All of the greatest processing components in the world don't mean a thing if the monitor can't handle them. One thing to consider is response time. Response time is the length of time for a pixel to change from fully active (black) to fully inactive (white) and then back again. If that action occurs too slowly, images on the monitor screen will have a ghost image. In the recent past 16 ms (milliseconds) has been the normal response time on monitors. These rates are falling and it's now possible to get a monitor with a 3-4 ms response time.

There are a couple of approaches that can be taken when looking at top gaming computers. One is buying an already put together system, off the rack and ready to go. The other approach is building your own rig. However you decide to proceed, knowing what makes them tick will increase your gaming satisfaction.
