Get Your Work Stations Up and Running on Time [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

An increasing dependence on computers to do a range of tasks almost negated the benefits of improved workstation design and education about posture, the lead author of a new study into computer work and musculoskeletal symptoms, Karin Griffiths, said. It's made it worse

A big part of your new office space is your office furniture. While you may want to present a professional atmosphere, it is also important to have office furniture that is comfortable for you and your employees, as well as any clients or customers. You also may need furniture that is functional, yet is still able to give your visitors a place where they feel welcome. A daunting task, however, is moving the office furniture into your new office and getting it set up.

Having a company that can move your furniture for you and get it set up to your liking can save you a lot of time, as well as a lot of stress. Hiring an office design company can not only help in your move, but they can also work with you to provide you with an office that will have a good work flow pattern. They also have the experience to recommend other items that can help you build the office you need. Working with such a company also gives you the opportunity to have pieces custom built for your new office space if the need arises.

There are many options that you can find that can help in giving you the office of your dreams. You can choose from a variety of new, used or even refurbished furniture to give you the look and functionality that you prefer. Ergonomic office chairs, desks for your computers or work space, file cabinets, and a bevy of other furniture items can be found. Not only can they help you find the right furniture for the office you desire, but can also help you in planning your office interior so it will suit your needs.

While new furniture may be in your plans, a design firm can also provide you with the service of moving your existing office furniture from your old office to your new one. Your furniture will be transported safely and securely, which can be hard to do if you and your workers try to do it all by yourselves. When they deliver your furniture, all you need to do is tell them where you want it. This means you don't even ha ve to worry about moving heavy furniture around your office, as this is a service they will provide as well.

In the event you decide to order furniture, you will not have to worry about assembling your work stations or even putting up your own shelves. These time consuming tasks will be done for you, so you can just sit back and supervise.

Instead of worrying about throwing out your back moving around and putting together your office furniture, or worrying about something happening to one of your employees during the move, you can have it all done for you by using an office design company. To relieve the stress of moving your office from one place to another, as well as having someone available with experience that can help in designing your new office could be one of the best investments your company has ever made.

What do you do with one really old laptop? - Turn it into an emulator for classic computers! I found a really old laptop, 486? 386? 286? no 86? I don't know, it has 12mb of ram, and a really small hard drive (something like 10 or 20mbs), I installed free dos, and a DOS Apple II emulator, DOS Commodore 64 emulator, DOS TI-99/4a, Fronz, TADS, and Atari 2600 - This is just a quick video to show off what you can do with really really really old computers. - I haven't much of any other use for them!

aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com New Life for Old Computers.avi

When you have an older computer you need old computer parts when you are upgrading or repairing it. Most new systems are not compatible with the older ones and the same holds true for their parts. For example, if you want to upgrade the RAM in your older system you will find that the styles on the market today are not able to work with your older system. You will have to look for used or refurbished RAM since the older styles are no longer being manufactured. Since the RAM is no longer being produced, the only option for replacement or upgrade is to buy used or old RAM from retailers and wholesalers that offer it.

Where To Find Old Computer Parts

When you are looking for computer parts that are outdated, obsolete or rare it can be tough to locate them. The best places to look are at computer repair shops in your area and of course online. If you are going to spend time calling around to local repair shops, be sure you know what you are aski ng for. If the system is not running and you do not know what it needs, you will need to contact the repair shop first anyways. If you do know what the system needs you can avoid the repair shop and start shopping online, as long as you know what the part is you're looking for. Say RAM for instance, if you are upgrading it, some of the older systems will require you to have identical chips side by side. You need to know what motherboard is in your system to find out what it will support. You may be able to find large pieces of RAM but if your board does not support it you will have wasted your money.

When you feel confident that you know what parts you need and that you understand what your board will support, start shopping around. You may be surprised to find that just because they are old computer parts does not mean they are cheap computer parts. Many times you will end up paying more for an outdated and obsolete part than you would for a new one. This is mainly du e to the fact that the manufacturer has stopped production on the parts and they have become extremely rare. RAM is normally the most expensive component you can buy for your older system, it is the most common part that gets upgraded or replaced in an old computer.

Sound cards, video cards and other components are normally still in the same format and can be purchased to fit even older systems. Motherboards are not normally replaced with the same old motherboard when doing upgrades or replacements, so they run fairly cheap. CPU's are sometimes sought out and purchased for repair on an older system but it is rare since you can usually get a motherboard and CPU package for much cheaper and upgrade the system to a newer more compatible system with today's technology.

You can shop around on auction sites such as eBay or look at retailers and wholesalers on the internet that offer older parts for older systems. Many sites will not advertise their old parts as part of their normal stock, so ask if they have what you are looking for.

Warranty on Old Parts

You can expect that you are not going to get a warranty with the purchase of old parts. Since the manufacturer no longer produces the parts you can assume they are well out of warranty. The company you buy them from may offer a warranty or guarantee that the parts will work, but not always. If there is a guarantee in most instances it will be for 30 days or sooner and you will have to notify the company right away if the part is defective in order to get a replacement or refund. If the old computer parts you purchased are extremely rare you may not be able to get replacement if they are defective and only be able to ask for a refund. Don't hesitate to ask the company about their refund and replacement policies on the old parts, it will be the only recourse you have if something goes wrong.

The average American child spends almost one to three hours a day sitting in front of the computer. They have homework to do, friends to chat with, and video games to beat. All of this while sounding fun, can be quite a strain on their eyes. Staring at the screen for hours stresses their eyes since it forces the vision system to focus and strain more than normal. It is a relatively new problem not known years ago.

It's this prolonged staring at the computer screen which leads to eye discomfort, fatigue, blurred vision, and headaches. How children use computers is what makes their problem unique and causes them to be more susceptible than adults to these problems. The symptoms are increasing in frequency too. Eye doctors are seeing an increase of patients requesting eye examinations because of these symptoms due to experience at the computer. Here are some other ways you can avoid computer vision syndrome in your child:

How is the lighting in your computer room? There should be no glare at all on the computer screen. You don't want to see any light sources like a lamp or window directly behind the monitor. One way to get around this problem is to simply, turn the computer screen or entire desk if need be, away from the source of the glare. Close the curtain on the windows to reduce the amount of light coming in from the windows. Is your computer set up at the proper height? The computer desks where your children work at have to fit your child and not you. That includes the size of the keyboard and monitor, too. For example, your monitor should not be too for them or they will strain their eyes to see it. Instead have it tilted downward to make it more comfortable for them. Many parents I speak with alleviate this problem by purchasing an adjustable chair that can be raised or lowered. How much time does your child spend on the computer? It is important you monitor how long they spend on the computer and keep an eye out for signs of fatigue. They usually have a minimum degree of self-awareness and will ignore feelings of discomfort. Force them to take frequent breaks away from the screen. Most doctors recommend one 10-minute break for every hour lets the eyes to rest properly. When was the last time their eyes were examined? Schedule an eye doctor appointment to determine if your child sees clearly and comfortably. If there are any conditions or problems causing eye strain for your child, an eye doctor can discover it and clear up any problems. Have the doctor check their near-point vision since it is used most frequently during computer use. Does your child have any symptoms? All parents should know and be able to spot the symptoms of computer vision syndrome. In case you didn't know, these include eye redness, frequent eye rubbing, unusual postures, complaints of blurriness, and eye fatigue. If your child is avoiding the computer all together, then you know something must be up and they are experiencing some type of discomfort. They treat their childrenรข€™s minds like a hard drive on a computer, donรข€™t they? You know, they think, รข€œThis computer (child) is my property, I bought it (I gave birth to it), therefore I get to say what goes on its hard drive (childรข€™s mind),รข€ right? Yes.

No. I think a problem is the fact Atheists are far to ignorant. And you just proved that. Crazy lady.

Answer by D Martin
Yes and no. Religion teaches ethics and morality. while some of the time it is misguided (like discrimination against gays and women) its core messages of humanitarianism and love are good lessons for children. The fact of the matter is most people who pass those values on were taught them as children so they don't know any better. It's not as though any one of them starts out with the thought process of "I'm gonna turn my kid into a bigot!" They learned about love from their religion and they believe their children should learn about love. That said, there are certainly better ways to teach the world about love than to pick up weapons and raid Israel over and over again.

Absolutely.

No quite the contrary especially if true Christians. We only teach our children what is the Truth which sets them free. We think of our children as gifts of Almighty God which are made in His image and held as precious in our sight to love and cherish. What to Do Before Selling or Discarding Your Old Computer [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

I've started scrapping old computers to sell the parts. This video was recorded on Aug. 17th.

PORTSMOUTH รข€" The school department is offering a number of seven-year-old Hewlett Packard computers for sale for $ 50 each. They will be available until August 16. The computers do not have monitors although some come with a keyboard and mouse. Used school computers for sale in Portsmouth

If you're like most people, you replace your computer every few years. Whenever you get a new computer, you need to find something to do with your old one. You can either sell it to a friend or online, donate it, recycle it, or throw it away.

Regardless of what you decide to do with your old computer, there are some important steps you have to take to make sure your personal information is protected. You don't want your credit card numbers, passwords, and other sensitive information getting into the hands of a stranger.

So what can you do to make sure your computer is wiped completely clean?

First, you need to transfer any files you wish to save to your new computer. Things like music, pictures, work documents, etc. can be either loaded onto an external hard drive or a USB drive so you can transfer them to your new computer. Make sure you thoroughly check your entire computer because this will be your last chance to get all of the files you need.

< p>After that, it's time to wipe your computer totally clean of all information. Simply manually deleting files isn't enough. Your best bet it to wipe the drive clean, format it, and reinstall Windows. This essentially gets your computer back to how it was when you first bought it new.

However, this is not always a simple task. Reinstalling an operating system takes time, and you have to pay attention to make sure you do it absolutely right. Any mistakes could cause serious issues.

If you need help, you could enlist the services of a computer repair company. With the right PC repair company, you can let them wipe your computer clean for you. This way, you don't have to worry about dealing with the hassle, and you can be certain that the job was done right the first time.

But not all laptop repair companies are the same. You need to make sure you choose a company you can count on to do the job right and to do it at a price you can afford.

Spend time res earching your options. Stay away from large corporate computer repair companies, like the ones that operate out of major electronics stores. They tend to overcharge and upsell their services.

Instead, find a small, locally owned computer repair company with a positive reputation. They should have a track record of doing great work at low prices that fit your budget.

You also want to make sure all work is performed in a timely manner. Before you take your computer in for service, ask how long it will take for the job to be completed. If they quote you a long time line, you may consider taking your business elsewhere.

Follow these tips closely when selling or discarding an old computer.

unfortunetly the only people you would be able to sell them to are inexperienced people who need one. they wont know how to use ubuntu or any linux distribution. Your best bet is to pirate windows xp and put it on the computers. not that im suggesting that (wink wink). personally, I think its a lost cause. I doubt any one will want to buy a used machine thats got damn old parts in them

Answer by Electro
You will have to make sure that all the hardware inside the computer will be able to run sophisticated running programs. E.g. if there is enough RAM. Cause my friend tryed to do that and has computer wasn't up to spec and it runs incredibly slow.

Answer by I hate Doodles!!!!!
Why would I buy a crappy, old computer from you that has an open-source OS from you? Sorry, you won't make a penny off this idea!

Answer by Compiz 0.8.6/Linux Mint 9
A machine with a Pentium 4 with a minimum of 512mb RAM is still worth having so there are possibilties. Anything earlier than that you would be struggling. A better idea would be to get hold of a load of old Pentium 3 machines load Linux on to them and give them to local charities so you know they would be put to good use Take a look at Linux Mint 9 LXDE http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=60 http://linuxmint.com/rel_isadora_lxde.php LUg.

Answer by piratesmvp04
You can, but the question is will people trust you enough to buy them. The other thing to consider is that these machines will have to run fast. You can't buy a Windows 98 computer, for example, and load linux on it. No matter what distribution you install, it will run slow.

Answer by John S
I agree with Beryl and Piratsm....you will need comps with a p-4 processor preferable a 1 gig min and at least 512k ram or it will be so slow no one will want it. I am running Linux Mint 8 in an old Dell P-3 866 mhz with 512 ram and its slow. The processor is the hold up. I have tried the lightweight distros with not much help. Slitaz seems to run fast enough...but its not my cup of tea..

if your running xp or above you cant heres a link to some programs that might help you http://www.filebuzz.com/files/Xp_Logons/

Answer by Eric
You can try going into safe mode to get around and i think you might be able to change the password in safe mode without knowing it. It just depends on the computer. If that doesnt work the only way is to go to the recovery part thats already on the computer not the disc. By pushing one of the F keys. You can set your computer back to factory defualt that way.

Answer by Seff
Try this: Re-starting the computer in Safe Mode by 1. Restarting the computer 2. pressing F8 repeatedly before the windows icon pops up 3. In the menu, use the arrow keys to highlight the safemode option, and press enter If you are lucky, there wont be a password for the administrator (safe mode) account, and you can go in to the control panel from here and change the password as needed. If not, the solution is much more complicated. Netbook Computers - Asus Vs Toshiba [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

The name Asus Eee PC is almost synonymous with netbook. Yet there are other brands in the market that capture the interest of consumers, especially if they already have a favored brand in laptop computers. Toshiba is one of them. Is there difference between Asus vs Toshiba netbooks?

When you look at the specs of netbooks, they tend to be extremely close to each other in terms of memory, CPU chip set, hard drive size, and screen resolution. It is usually in the more exterior aspects of the netbook computers that you will find differences: keyboard, battery life, total weight, glossy exterior or matte, glossy screen or matte screen, how many USB ports and their ease of access, and the kind of wireless connectivity offered. Within each brand, models even differ in the end user experience. So why would it matter what brand you choose?

A large name brand like Toshiba has a lot of reputation to keep when entering a new market such as the netbook sales. In order t o keep up their brand image, they have tended to put together netbooks with slightly higher quality build including some of the top consumer ranked keyboards. Usually, you might think that such a large brand would dwarf a newcomer to the computing niche.

In this case, however, Asus was a ground breaker in netbooks, and they continue to take the lead in certain areas such as battery life. The Asus Eee PC 1005PE is rated for battery time of 14 hours. Consumers continue to give pleased reviews of the Asus Eee PC experience. This brand is a major player in the netbook niche, and is not to be ignored.

What really matters is that you purchase a netbook computer that suits your needs in particular. If you don't need 14 hours of battery time, but you do need a full size keyboard, that should be your main consideration, not whether it's an Asus or a Toshiba machine.

Both the Asus and Toshiba netbook computers have their particular pluses and minuses. Define what it is you want from your netbook computer experience, and this will define the model you want far more than the brand name.
