Why You Have to Recycle Old Computers [aboutcomputer99.blogspot.com]

Question by mrs. h: easiest way to recycle old computers? we have a few computers, standard desk computers, and a few laptops. i would like to give them away, i believe they are only good for parts. i would like to find a place that can use them all in entirety, not use some and throw the rest away. any ideas where to drop them off? can a college class use them? thanks. Best answer for easiest way to recycle old computers?:

Colleges may or may not be interested. I'd look more at your look school district. Public education is always underfunded and usually looking for donated PCs. Most of them now have a computer guy who you can contact and who should know enough to evaluate your hardware and see if they can use it.

I load Ubuntu on them and install them at our local library. I just set up a 600 Mhz machine with Ubuntu, browses the web and they can listen with earphones to music just htis week. They were very appreciative. Our local school district would be able to find a use for them. Give them a call.

5. The toner cartridges that old printers use have carbon black, which is a poisonous substance. In fact, exposure to it can lead to respiratory tract irritation and skin and lung cancer. Even ink-jet cartridges are harmful to you and the environment as it can cause allergic reactions. However as they can be recycled and reused, they are a better option for your printing purposes.
